How to root Xiaomi Mi2SThe Xiaomi Mi2S is the revamped version of their all time favorite Xiaomi Mi2 handset which was first released back in 2012. Like the original variant, the Xiaomi Mi2S also comes with a 4.7-inch HD display but is powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset and 2GB RAM instead – making it a much more powerful device in comparison. That’s not all! You can still choose to root Xiaomi Mi2S if you want to further improve its performance by overclocking its chipset. If you’re interested in doing so, then read on to find out how to root Xiaomi Mi2S using the Framaroot app.

Prerequisites before you begin rooting Xiaomi Mi2S

  1. Download the Framaroot apk to your PC.
  2. Make sure you have at least 80% battery left on the Xiaomi Mi2S before you proceed.
  3. Back up the Xiaomi Mi2S.

 

Follow the steps below on how to root Xiaomi Mi2S

 

  1. Connect the Xiaomi Mi2S to your PC.
  2. Copy and paste the Framaroot apk from your PC over to your device’s SD card – do remember its location.
  3. Go to the Security section under its settings and check on the Unknown Sources box.
  4. Once you have do so, open the file explorer app ( we prefer Astro File Manager / ES File Explorer ) and install the Framaroot apk by tapping on its icon.
  5. Open the Framaroot app on your Xiaomi Mi2S.
  6. select install Superuser in Framaroot to root Xiaomi Mi2SFrom the app, select Install Superuser under the Select an action to execute after root section.
  7. From the Select an exploit section, select the Gandalf exploit.
  8. success pop up in FramarootA pop-up like the one above should appear on your screen if everything is done correctly.
  9. Congratulation! You’ve just rooted Xiaomi Mi2S!
