At the beginning of the year, we’d heard rumors suggesting that Xiaomi will be launching a new Xiaomi 12 series smartphone known as the Xiaomi 12S during the second-halve of the year. In fact, an alleged photo of the Xiaomi 12S was also spotted recently to substantiate the claim.
Even though Xiaomi remains mum regarding the existence of the Xiaomi 12S, but the phone had apparently been spotted on Geekbench today bearing the model number 2206123SC. The listing itself also revealed some of the device’s key specs which offer us a good idea on what to expect on this upcoming handset.
According to the listing, the Xiaomi 12S is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset which boasts better performance in both the CPU and GPU departments of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform which was used in the current Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro (Review) devices.
Apart from that, the same listing also revealed that the phone will be equipped with 12GB worth of RAM in the memory department, though we do expect the phone to be available in an 8GB RAM variant at launch as well. Over on the software side, the device will be shipped with Android 12 OS out of the box.
Although the listing didn’t reveal any other details pertaining to the smartphone, but past reports had revealed that the device will arrive with a Leica-branded camera system which is expectedly lead by the same 50MP main camera that was used on the existing Xiaomi 12 series smartphones.
