Huawei P40 Pro VS Huawei P30 Pro: What have changed

It has been awhile since the Huawei P40 Pro made its official debut last month. This time round, the P40 Pro is certainly a huge upgrade over last year’s P30 Pro in almost all aspects from its front display all the ways to its camera department. In this article, we will highlight some of their key differences.

Front Display

Starting with the front display, the Huawei P40 Pro sports a 6.58-inches OLED display which has an impressive 1200 x 2640 pixels screen resolution and a silky smooth 90Hz screen refresh rate.

The Huawei P30 Pro on the other hand, features an OLED display with a slightly toned down 1080 x 2340 pixels screen resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.

Both devices are able to support HDR10 and has an in-display fingerprint sensor as well.

Camera System

The Huawei P40 Pro and P30 Pro both have a quad-camera array. However, the P40 Pro employs a greatly bumped up 50MP Sony IMX 700 main camera over the P30 Pro’s 40MP camera. Similarly, the P40 Pro is also equipped with an upgraded 40MP ultra-wide lens over the P30 Pro’s 20MP ultra-wide lens.

In fact, their differences extend to their telephoto lens as well. The Huawei P40 Pro has a 12MP telephoto lens, while the P30 Pro has an 8MP telephoto lens. Both devices however, will be able to support up to 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom.

Moreover, the Huawei P40’s camera system also includes the latest Huawei XD Fusion Engine which is said to enable faster processing of data with “unmatched clarity at the pixel level”. Similarly, it also has an Octa Phase Detection which enables ultra-quick autofocus capabilities.

Performance

As well all know, the Huawei P40 Pro will be driven by the latest Kirin 990 platform which will bring 5G support to the device. The P30 Pro on the other hand, will be powered by an older Kirin 980 platform. Other than that, both devices will have up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB onboard storage under the hood.

Battery

Both devices share the same 4,200mAh battery capacity with 40W fast-charging (wired). However, the P40 Pro is able to support up to 27W wireless charging, while the P30 Pro is only able to support up to 15W wireless charging.
