New Sony Xperia smartphones coming on April 14

Sony has confirmed that the company will be holding an official launch event on April 14th, where the company is expected to unveil a number of Xperia smartphones. Although Sony remains mum on the identity of the upcoming Xperia smartphones, but they’re expected to be none other than the Xperia 1 III, Xperia 10 III, and possibly the long-rumored Xperia Compact smartphone.

Sony Xperia Launch Date

The star of the event, is no doubt the flagship Xperia 1 III which will be succeeding last year’s Xperia 1 II. This device was also recently depicted in a series of CAD-based renderings published by well-accredited leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer.

Based on the renders, the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 III doesn’t seems to be coming with an major design overhaul as it continues to sport the usual 21:9 aspect ratio upfront along with fairly noticeable bezels on its forehead and chin area. Despite a seemingly similar design, it was noted that the overall dimension of the Xperia 1 III is in fact reduced – though it will be slightly thicker this time round.

Over on the rear side, the device retains the same elongated camera island which play host to a triple-camera setup accompanied by a 3D iToF sensor. On top of that, the cameras will be featuring ZEISS optics with T* coating (anti-reflective coating) which enhances the quality of the images.

In terms of specs, the Sony Xperia 1 III will doubtlessly be powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 mobile platform which will be paired with at least 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The front display is also expected to be an OLED panel that boasts an immersive 4K screen resolution.
