Celebrating Earth Month, Showing How the End of a Phone Case’s Life Can Be the Start of a New One

Leading global accessories brand CASETiFY is honoring Earth Month by unveiling innovative creative partnerships that breathe new life into its phone cases, transforming them into unique yet functional art pieces. The brand is further reaffirming its ongoing commitment to the planet by publishing a comprehensive Sustainability Report.
Wes Ng, CEO and Co-Founder of CASETiFY, states, “When we started CASETiFY, we set out to create products that help people express themselves. Today, that vision has evolved into something bigger – a responsibility to ensure that creative expression doesn’t come at the cost of our planet’s future.”
Re/CASETiFY: Breathing New Life into Old Cases
At the core of CASETiFY’s sustainability strategy is the Re/CASETiFY program, which champions circular economy by giving used products a second life through partnerships with certified recyclers. Customers can return old smartphone and earbud cases at over 40 CASETiFY Studio locations globally. This program transforms discarded phone cases into recycled Re/CASETiFY pellets – a material that exemplifies our commitment to resource circularity. CASETiFY’s breakthrough in waste-to-material conversion has earned international recognition, with Fast Company naming Re/CASETiFY as one of 2022’s most impactful sustainability initiatives.
CASETiFY Sustainability Efforts at a Glance
In 2024, CASETiFY successfully diverted over 31,000 kg of plastics from landfills, accumulating more than 105,000 kg since 2021. Additionally, the company recycled over 624,000 phone cases this year, contributing to a total of 2.1 million recycled cases since our efforts began.
To further enhance its sustainable practices, CASETiFY has adopted BioVeg, a plant-based material, for select products. BioVeg reduces carbon emissions by 13% and depletes 44% fewer natural resources compared to conventional polyurethane leather. It is also five times more durable, ensuring quality and longevity for consumers.
Looking ahead, CASETiFY is strengthening its sustainability commitment through a partnership with Seven Clean Seas, targeting the removal of 1,000 kg of ocean plastic waste monthly. This collaboration aims to tackle global plastic pollution and complements the company’s ongoing efforts to promote environmentally responsible practices.
CASETiFY is also focused on reducing carbon emissions, with targets to decrease electricity intensity by 6.42% in retail and production sites by 2030, ultimately aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. The company is committed to maintaining a 100% recycling rate for production waste in Hong Kong by 2030 as part of its broader sustainability strategy.
Creative Partnerships
Accomplished ceramic artist Cody Hoyt brings CASETiFY’s upcycling vision to life, creating a striking bench using discarded phone cases as the tiling medium. The one-of-a-kind piece boasts a bold mosaic pattern in a vibrant array of colors provided by the original phone case designs. The bench will be installed into the CASETiFY STUDiO at K11 Musea in Hong Kong.

Additionally, reEDIT Lab, a creative studio celebrated for its upcycled collaborations with major brands, contributes two utility pieces from upcycled phone cases. Multi-purpose phone stands and CASETiFY Retail name badges showcase reEDIT Lab’s expertise in creative product design with sustainability at the forefront. The phone stand is available at participating CASETiFY retail stores across Asia, whilst the Name Badges are being used in store for 200 of CASETiFY’s retail employees.
For further insights, CASETiFY’s Sustainability Report – which will be live on casetify.com from April 22nd – highlights the significant impact of its initiatives, including the upcycling of key materials.
