As we know, Sony will be holding an official launch event on April 14th where the company is likely to announce a handful of smartphones including the flagship Xperia 1 III. Ahead of its official unveiling, fresh information pertaining to the Xperia 1 III had already made its way to Chinese social media platform Weibo.
While some of these information did coincide with what was leaked previously, majority of them were unheard of in the past. According to the latest leak, the upcoming Xperia 1 III will be arriving with a 6.5” OLED display that offers a sharp 4K resolution topped with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth as well as a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.
In the camera department, the Sony Xperia 1 III is said to feature a triple-camera system lead by an unspecified 64 megapixels primary shooter, 12 megapixels ultra-wide camera, as well as a 12 megapixels periscope lens with loseless zoom capabilities. The periscope lens is also said to be developed by Sony’s Cyber-shot division.
Although he didn’t mention this, but we did heard previously from Steve Hemmerstoffer that the Xperia 1 III will also be coming with an additional 3D iToF sensor as well. Similarly, all the cameras are also expected to feature ZEISS optics with T* coating (anti-reflective coating) which enhances the quality of the images.
Finally, the device is also said to be backed by a massive 5,000mAh battery with 65W fast-charging support. While 65W fast-charging may sounds like a mainstream feature among today’s flagship phone, but its actually a monumental jump from the 21W fast-charging on last year’s Xperia 1 II.
As with any other leaks, do take these information with a huge (really huge) pinch of salt.
