Recently, we just reported an alleged render of the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi6 which gave us some heads up on what to expect from the upcoming flagship. While most of the headlines recently are targeted at the Galaxy S8, let’s try to spend some time on the Mi6 which is expected to be unveiled during the same time frame as well.
New rumors emerging out of China today claimed that the Xiaomi Mi6 will be coming with a waterproof chassis, a feature which is absent in Xiaomi’s flagships in order to keep its cost competitive. If the rumor is indeed true, then the Mi6 will definitely be a major upgrade from the current Mi5.
Sad to say, the same source also claimed that the Mi6 will not be having a headphone jack this time round, and will only support wireless headphones similar to the iPhone 7. This will surely be a news to those who are not used to the idea of using wireless earbuds for their entertainment, but hey, more mobile manufacturers including HTC are now progressing towards using wireless headphones – so its just a matter of time before the headphone jacks eventually went extinct.
With that in mind, we do believe that the removal of headphone jacks from the Mi6 could be seen as an improvement for the Chinese smartphone giant even though these are just rumors for the time being.
