How to root Goophone N4 using the Framaroot program

The Goophone N4 is the latest 5.7-inch Android phablet released by Chinese manufacturer Goophone last month. As you can see, the device seems to be an exact replica of the latest Galaxy Note 4 phablet launched earlier this month during the IFA event. Similar to the Galaxy Note 4, the N4 will be rocking a 8-cores processor onboard, but with a slightly smaller 2GB RAM instead.

Like most other Android smartphones, we can root Goophone N4 rather easily as well. In the following tutorial, I will be guiding you guys on how to root Goophone N4 using the Framaroot app.

Disclaimer : During the process of rooting, there is always a risk for you to brick your Android device. So if you choose to root your device, you are doing it at your own risk! Your device warranty will also be voided after rooting.

Prerequisites before you begin rooting Goophone N4

  1. Download the Framaroot apk to your PC.
  2. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the necessary USB driver on your PC.
  3. Make sure there is at least 50% battery remaining on your Goophone phablet.
  4. Go to Settings > Security > Make sure you have checked on the Unknown Sources checkbox.
  5. Back up the Goophone N4 phablet.

Follow the steps below on how to root Goophone N4

  1. Connect the Goophone N4 to your PC using an appropriate USB cable.
  2. Copy the Framaroot apk from your PC to your tablet’s SD card.
  3. Open the file explorer app ( if you don’t have one on your device, then you may want to download either Astro File Manager / ES File Explorer ) and install the Framaroot apk by tapping on its icon.
  4. Open the Framaroot app on your Goophone N4 and you should be able to see a screen like the one below.
  5. select install Superuser in Framaroot to root Goophone N4From the Framaroot app, select the Install Superuser option under the Select an action to execute after root section as shown above.
  6. In the next section, choose the Boromir exploit to root Goophone N4.
  7. success pop up in FramarootYou should be able to see a pop-up like the one above once the program has rooted your tablet. The process normally takes less than a minute to complete.
  8. Finally, reboot your device immediately.
  9. Congratulation! You’ve just rooted Goophone N4!
