Japan exclusive Sharp X1 Android One phone is now official

Japan-exclusive Sharp X1 smartphone had been officially launched in the country, making it the second Android One phone to be announced in the country. The first Android One phone Sharp Aquos 507SH made its debut back in July last year and was pretty well-received by the Japanese consumers. As of now, the Sharp X1 is only available in Japan via its local carrier Y! Mobile.

Specifications

In terms of specifications, the Sharp X1 comes with a 5.3″ FHD IGZO LCD display which is powered by a Snapdragon 435 SoC. Under its memory compartment, the device has 3GB of RAM as well as 32GB worth of internal storage space which can be further expanded with microSD card. Camera-wise, it is equipped with an impressive 16.4 megapixel main snapper and also a 8 megapixel secondary camera on its flip side.

Under the hood, there is a 3,900mAh battery which is touted to be able to charge fully in less than 3 hours and could last up to 4 days with one single charge. Before we missed out, there is also a fingerprint sensor embed under its Home Button.

One thing interesting about Android One phones is that these devices receive software updates directly from Google itself, and not the telcos or mobile manufacturers.

Design

Speaking about its design, there isn’t anything particularly intricate or bewildering enough to steal our attention. We would say it looks just like most typical mid-ranger out there. Three color options are available for the device namely Dark Purple, White, as well as Mint Green.

Pricing

Unlike its predecessor, the Sharp X1 comes with a more hefty price tag of ¥70,524 ($622). Needless to say, you can get a much better smartphone with much better specs and design with that much money.
