DJ Koh, President and CEO of Samsung’s IT & Mobile Communication division, recently announced during the recent Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2020 that the company has sold between 400,000 to 500,000 Galaxy Fold smartphones thus far.
Now, a new report from Sina has shed some light on the sale performance for Huawei’s Mate X foldable smartphone as well. According to the report, Huawei had revealed that the company shipped approximately 100,000 Mate X devices every month since it went on sale in China back in November 15th last year.
Although the device comes with a hefty price tag of 16,999 yuan (US$2,403) in China, but it remains one of the most highly sought-after smartphone. In China, the device was sold out in a matter of seconds during the first few round of sale.

Initially, the Mate X is available for limited sale every Friday of the month due to shortage of stocks. However, Huawei has now expanded it’s flash sale days to every Tuesday and Friday of the week.
As compared to the sales figure of Samsung Galaxy Fold, the figure posted by Huawei Mate X may be slightly underwhelming. The reason for it’s lower sales figure is attributed to the fact that the latter is available only to the Chinese market as the global launch plan is still reportedly under review.
According to reports, the lack of licensed Google Play apps and services is one of the hindering factors towards it’s global launch as it is unlikely for consumers to fork out staggering sum of money for a device without these crucial apps.
