Samsung Galaxy S26 could be equipped with Perplexity AI

Samsung is reportedly close to finalizing a significant partnership with Perplexity AI to bring advanced AI-powered search and assistant features to its future devices, according to Bloomberg sources. If successful, this could mark a major shift in Samsung’s AI strategy, as it looks to reduce its reliance on Google Gemini AI and expand its device ecosystem with cutting-edge technology.

Samsung devices to feature Perplexity AI

Bloomberg’s report reveals that Samsung and Perplexity have been in discussions for months, including meetings in South Korea earlier this year. Samsung is considering investing in Perplexity AI, which recently partnered with PayPal and raised its value to $14 billion.

If the talks come to fruition, Samsung could officially announce this partnership later this year. Sources indicate that Samsung plans to integrate Perplexity’s AI technology as the default digital assistant on the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, expected to launch early next year. This could also include deep integration with Bixby, Samsung Internet, and even an ‘AI-infused’ operating system for future devices.

The move is expected to give Samsung more flexibility in how it approaches AI capabilities, much like Apple’s multi-AI approach that includes ChatGPT integration in Siri. Samsung’s discussions with Perplexity extend beyond phones and could impact the overall AI ecosystem across its devices.

The Perplexity integration could also improve research and data handling, as the AI startup recently introduced Perplexity Labs, a tool that generates dynamic dashboards, spreadsheets, and tables from online data. While the deal is not yet finalized, sources remain optimistic, with Samsung reportedly preparing to become a significant investor in Perplexity’s upcoming $500 million funding round. In all likelihood, the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected to launch in January 2026, will be the first Samsung devices to feature the Perplexity AI as the default AI assistant.
